About Avicenna Tajik State Medical University

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University (ATSMU), originally named Abu Ali Ibn Sino University, was established in 1939, attained university status in 1992, and began enrolling foreign students from 2010. The university is named after Avicenna — the legendary physician and philosopher (Ibn Sina) — one of the greatest figures in the history of medicine. ATSMU currently has approximately 90% of its faculty from India, creating a uniquely India-friendly academic environment with 700+ Indian students enrolled. Located in Dushanbe, just 2.5 hours by flight from Delhi, ATSMU is recognised by NMC (India), WHO, FAIMER, ECFMG, WDOMS, UNESCO, and DORA, with USMLE eligibility. A 5-year program option is also available for eligible students.
